  • Elastic straps or tie-downs: Essential for maintaining constant tension whilst absorbing gusts of wind to prevent the anchor points or the tarpaulin from being torn away.
  • Mushroom-type hooks: To securely anchor the system and route the perimeter bungee cord over a pergola, carport or wall.

How do you secure and tension your pergola canopy to prevent water from pooling and to stop it flapping in the wind?

To ensure optimal installation:

  • Maintain a minimum slope of 10 to 15 per cent when installing a waterproof PVC tarpaulin, to allow rainwater to drain away naturally.
  • Use an elastic cord around the perimeter of the sheet, threading it through each eyelet and securing it to your structure in a staggered pattern. Tighten the cord evenly to keep the sheet taut, smooth and neat.
